Cardio Along with Strength and Hypertrophy Phase
Hi! I am a high school wrestler that is entering the collegiate level. I want to build muscle through the strength and hyper trophy phases in the book but I also need to keep up my stamina and endurance with cardio at the same time. I was wondering if you could give me any pointers to increase cardio endurance and stamina as well as also gaining the benefits of strength training.
This is EXACTLY what I wanted back when I was fighting. And this is EXACTLY how the “Conditioning” phase was created. I was adjusting and modifying it for over a decade. “Conditioning” phase is the best training program I know for well rounded development. Just what doctor ordered for a wrestler.
It might not be apparent at first, but this program is also highly flexible. For example, in between tournaments I would reduce the speed on the treadmill and tried to increase the weights I was using. Closer to the fight I would start to increase the speed while trying to maintain the strength gains.
Take my word for it: it will work!!! I was never the most technical guy in the ring or on the mat. But I was always know to be one of the strongest and most conditioned.
